Where Is My Kid is an application to help people track the location of other family members and friends. It uses GPS information to track location and stores the information in a database for access by other authorized family and friends.

You can have any number of friends and family members registered for location updates. You can see where they currently are located, and/or the path they have followed for the last 1-24 hours. Each friend also needs to have Where Is My Kid installed on their iOS device. You can use Bump technology to establish friends between 2 phones.

The app tracks position continuously and provides a set of database entries to show position based on user and time range queries. Displayed routes can be printed using Apple AirPrint technology to any connected AirPrint compatible printer.

Each time the app is brought to the foreground, the most recent family/friend selected will show the current update for their position. For family/friend members on the same iTunes account, the location display is live and shows updates for the selected friend as they occur. Live updates can occur as often as every 30 seconds or so when a friend is actively moving.

The app also supports iCloud options where position updates, for family/friends on the same iTunes account, are faster and more efficient.

Where Is My Kid includes Apple push technology, which allows you to request locations updates from friends and family members. With this you can request a location update from a friend or a 30 minute details location tracking.

Where Is My Kid also includes an interface to Facebook. This allows you to post directly to your Facebook page, post a Facebook checkin to show your current location to other Facebook friends, query your current friends list for their most recent Facebook checkin location, and to view friend data and post to their wall.

Where Is My Kid includes options to save and name common places you visit or stay. You can define any number of common places you visit. When common places are created, it reduces the work required by GPS and your iOS device as it notices you are near a defined location and waits until you leave that area before storing more redundant locations.

Where Is My Kid includes a tracker display option to make it easy to track specific movement history for things like jogging, walking, and any other activity where a detailed bread crumbs route is desired. Tracked routed may be saved and later recalled for review. Each saved route includes both time duration and distance, as well as detailed point by point routes. Displayed routes can be printed using Apple AirPrint technology to any connected AirPrint compatible printer.

Where Is My Kid now includes the option to display the current temperature, based on information from WeatherBug. WeatherBug supports the USA and many other areas around the world. The temperature is displayed in either Fahrenheit or Celsius based on the standard in each supported country. See www.weatherbug.com for information about your area.

Where Is My Kid now includes the option to control the Away mode of a Nest Thermostat using GPS data. This allows the user to automatically set the away mode of the thermostat when the distance to home exceeds a user set value. See the Settings tab for more information about this feature.

The app works in both the foreground and background and requires iOS 7.x or later. Where Is My Kid was designed for Apple iOS 7.x, and iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPhone 4/4S/5/5S/5C, and later devices.

Also note that "Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life." So be aware that the use of the location tracking option will use more battery power.
